INSTALLING ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION BOARD

















INTRODUCTION:
Positioning  the electrical  device either  in premises or industries  is important because, there is need for ventilation and easy escape for an emergency case. As electrical appliance during operation heat will develop, which make temperature to rise up this can lead to fire outbreak. Also in a case of an emergency, fuse can easily remove to stop spreading of fire outbreak in not affected area.









Electrical Distribution Fuse Board:
Is a panel board which comprises special mini circuit breakers,  that  assign to control and distribute power to final sub circuit. This means distribution fuse board performed two functions namely; Protection and distributing electrical power to final sub-circuit . As an electrician, you must know which type of distribution fuse board require?  Because there  is  different categories, such:
a-       4-way (4*3 ), it has 12 MCB                                              
b-       6-way(6*3), it has 18 MCB
c-       8-way(8*3), it has 24 MCB                                                                                                

To install the electrical distribution board, you must consider the following:
ü   Load of appliances such as Air conditioner
ü   Make sure you balance the load, don’t  connect  all the load in one phase.
ü   Test the continuity of control switch of distribution fuse board, to avoid short circuit, even if it is new product.
ü   If there is Ring main circuit, make sure you use at least 30A MCB.
ü   Don’t connect high amperes  load with small MCB                                                                                       
Bellow is needed device for powering,  distribution  and  controlling  the premises:
a-       Cut-out  fuse
b-       Meter
c-       E.LC.B
d-       Distribution board
  











 Many companies manufacture electrical fuse board like AB, Harvest, & Federal Electrical are good because, they can trip if there is fault. This feature is very important. As an electrician don’t install your electrical fuse  board  touching  the ceiling, adjust it down, why?  Is for safety. Make sure your distribution fuse board is not having  contact with veranda or rod metal to avoid leakage current, also make sure you arrange the cable load in order to avoid short circuit. Tight Neutral terminals very well, because when it loose  power will not be deliver to distributed circuits, neutral cable is common to all circuit, not like live cable which is differ  in it’s capacity. If there’s dedicated circuit make sure you connect it to one MCB, like Furnace, washing machine because, they carry big load. Any big load appliances must be connected independently in distribution fuse board for proper  operation . Also it is advisable to test the continuity of distribution fuse board control switch to encountering short circuit, just like what happened to my partner. He bought 3ф E.L.C.B  new product, but  during installation he was found short circuit inside the device.
HOW TO TEST CONTINUITY OF E.L.C.B OR CONTROLLED SWITCHES:
Firstly, set your measuring instrument to continuity test mode, in the device there’s incoming supply  and outgoing supply. Take terminals of your instrument, one inside live terminal and other in outgoing terminal , make sure power supply is off and switch control is off  for the first time, if your meter read; it means there’s short circuit. Return it to seller for replacing it.  Secondly, do same but make sure you ON your distribution fuse board if is read continuity, it means is ok. If not, it is not ok. 
Electrical circuit of lighting
 Electrical circuit for lighting  consists of lighting and Fans,usually consumed low voltage. It feed from distribution fuse board.As an electrician, to conduct electric wiring on lightingcircuit there is steps to follow for safe and successful work. Firstly, you need tools, that will help you in carrying out pipingwork,the tools includes,bending string, work saw, plier , pushingtape,hammer, first aid box,measuring tape, shovel and knife. Secondlyyou need accessories such as loopingbox,knockout,pipe(PVC type),Y,U,X,T boxes, coupler,male and femalebushes and gum,all those are used in piping work. Thirdly, you needmaterial such as cable usually I.5mm2.then you also need devices forfor protection and measuring energy devices such as E.L.C.B,Distribution board and energy meter. Remember, ceiling fan also underlighting circuit. How to arrange your work?lighting circuit, consumedcables if need to install a lot of lighting points per room.As an electrician,you can ask building plan of electrical design,you can follow it to conduct your electrical work. It can happen, youneed to adjust the design for safety and standard way no problem youcan do it, but make sure you can explain yourself if site engineermake an alarm. It can happen, no electrical design plan, in thissituation, you will see size of each room, and decide how manylighting point suppose to fix in the room and the number ofceiling fan required. Make sure, you fix enough illumination where it need, it can be from 4 lighting point and above depend on roomsize. In lighting circuit looping is allow,which is a connecting twolighting point to be control with the common switch control,youmust take note in this looping system, remember is a continues to connectfor instant, you will connect live(hot)and neutral wire from the twoterminal of lighting point. Let illustrate how to connect lightingcircuit in a room, make sure you are an electrician, because electricshock can burnt you or kill. At beginning fix the looping box on wood of ceiling, their numbers depend on number of lighting point and fans required in the room. put it in your mine always supply cable goes to switch, which give you total control of circuit. Each circuit consists of return wire, which will decide the lighting points is loop or not. For instant, if you loop two lighting points, you will use one return wire to the switch control, but if you separate the two lighting points each one must feed with its return wire, in this connection, each one can be controlled with independent going fromthe switch In case of supply, it is advisable not to joint all the room or tap from the same supply, because it lead to total darkness if there is fault. Make sure your separate the supply of rooms. If you many lighting point in a given room, make their switch control separate.
